Dairygold Food Ingredients (DFI) UK has installed a new line for dicing and grating cheese at its facility in Crewe.

The Holac AUT 200 line, which cost more than £200,000, is expected to streamline operations, raise efficiency and improve product quality.

The line can produce small, medium and large cubes, as well as shavings and grated cheese. It also features an infeed with a top-press system that enables it to press blocks, loose products and sliced offcuts.

“As consumer tastes have changed, so too has the demand for cheese to be supplied in a range of formats to suit different needs and applications,” says Keith Stokes, head of operations at DFI UK.

“The introduction of this new line will not only complement our existing manufacturing footprint at Crewe, but will also provide us with a really solid base to meet future customer demand.”

The DFI Crewe plant lays claim to being the largest grating line in the UK, processing in excess of 450t of grated/diced cheese a week. In 2015, the company announced that it was investing £1.1M in a new slicing line at the Crewe site.
