Krill oil supplier Aker BioMarine was testing for DHA and EPA levels
Norwegian krill supplier Aker BioMarine used last month’s Health Ingredients Europe show to raise awareness of the “serious and costly” implications of being omega-3 deficient.

Through an omega-3 index test, Aker offered visitors the opportunity to find out their DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) levels.

Risk of heart disease

Test inventor, cardiologist Professor Clemens von Schacky was on hand to discuss the implications of a low omega-3 index, which included increased risk of heart disease, elevated blood pressure and suboptimal brain function.
