Me and my factory
Inside manufacturing: Glanbia Performance Nutrition
Having held technical and managerial roles at a number of food businesses across the north-east, the 43-year-old was appointed general manager of Glanbia Performance Nutrition (GPN) at the beginning of 2015.
Baker, who runs the company’s Middlesbrough operation on a day-to-day basis, also has responsibility for managing the Europe, the Middle East and Africa region.
Powders and bars
Part of the Glanbia Group, GPN specialises in making ready-to-mix powders and ready-to-eat bars under a number of brand and own-label names.
GPN won Ambient Manufacturing Company of the Year at the 2015 Food Manufacture Excellence Awards, an achievement that Baker believed was down to the company’s “commitment to quality and integrity”.
“It is a real accolade for the business and the people that have made our success a reality over the years,” he says.
“Our business is fast-paced and growing year-on-year. Our desire is to double the size of GPN over the next three years, and I truly believe it will come to pass.”
