Provision Trade Federation recruits Andrew Kuyk as director general

Previously director of sustainability at the UK Food and Drink Federation (FDF) from 2009–2014, Kuyk has lead work on resource efficiency, food security and climate change to help reduce the environmental impacts of food production.
Before joining the FDF, he was a career civil servant, dealing with a range of food, agricultural, trade and environmental issues in the UK and at EU and international levels.
‘Renew the PTF’
PTF Rob Nugent said: “Andrew’s appointment will allow the organisation to build on the important work of the last 18 months to renew the PTF. His skills and experience will help us to grow the organisation, deliver improved services to members and enhance our profile with policymakers.”
Kuyk commented: “I am thrilled to be joining the PTF at such a critical time for the industry. Despite the tough trading conditions, this is an exciting period for the organisation where we need to make a meaningful difference for our member companies.”
The PTF represented more than 90% of the trade in the UK bacon, pigmeat, dairy, yogurt and goat dairy markets. The products account for nearly £18bn or 16% of household expenditure on food in the UK while sales overseas of pork and dairy total 10% of UK food exports.
