Grim green popcorn launched
Popcorn brand Butterkist released a grim green sweet popcorn in a bid to tap into demand for spooky products.
The slimy-looking product features bright green popcorn made with natural colours and flavours.
Butterkist said novelty products were key to driving consumer purchases at Halloween, with spooky coloured classic treats popular among consumers.
Butterkist’s sales during the Halloween season represent 42% of the popcorn market.
The firm’s senior brand manager Anjna Mistry said: “Our first-to-the-market limited editions offer a fantastic opportunity for retailers to drive sales as we head into a time of year when consumers are looking to spend a little bit more on snacking and treating. These products deliver on taste and quality as well as satisfying customer demand for novelty and seasonal products.”
Butterkist also launched a limited edition gingerbread popcorn for the autumn season.
