A new leak detector for fresh foods was unveiled by Ishida Europe at the Processing and Packaging Machinery Association show, which was staged at the National Exhibition Centre near Birmingham earlier this month.

The Ishida Airscan offers fast, reliable and non-destructive identification of leaks in modified atmosphere packaging. It can be used for a variety of products, including fresh meat and seafood, salads and ready meals.

The leak detector was one of a number of quality control systems shown. Other kit included Ishida’s X-ray and checkweigher models and four multi-head weighers.

The IX-GA-4075 X-ray inspection system can detect even tiny amounts of foreign bodies down to 0.3mm in size.

The DACS-G checkweigher (pictured left) is capable of high-speed operation while maintaining its accuracy. It is able to switch between two weighing ranges, which allows manufacturers to handle more products on one machine.
