Food firm signs research deal with Chester Uni
Chester University's Institute of Food Science and Innovation has signed a research contract with multinational food and drink ingredients specialist Döhler Group to develop formulations with enhanced performance and potential health benefits.

Chester University’s Institute of Food Science and Innovation has signed a research contract with multinational food and drink ingredients specialist Döhler Group to develop formulations with enhanced performance and potential health benefits.

The deal follows the recent addition to the institute of Professor Saphwan Al-Assaf, who will establish a Hydrocolloid Research Centre at the university.

Animal sources

Food hydrocolloids are natural polymers, which are produced from plant or animal sources.

Professor Graham Bonwick, director of the Institute of Food Science and Innovation, said: “We are delighted to welcome Professor Saphwan Al-Assaf to our institute to extend our research and the range of services we offer to the food industry.”
