Dennis takes the helm of IFT
Professor Colin Dennis took over at the helm of the US Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) this month.
Dennis succeeded Mary Ellen Camire who was last year’s IFT president and is a professor of food science at the University of Maine’s School of Food & Agriculture.
He has also held leadership roles within Campden BRI and the Institute of Food Science and Technology and is a governor of the British Nutrition Foundation.
Dennis said it he would look to emphasise the importance of science and innovation to address the challenge of feeding a growing population.
Meanwhile, Dennis will chair the Food Manufacture Group’s food safety conference at the end of this month.
The conference, Safer food and drink – from the harvest to the home, takes place on September 29 at the Lowry in Manchester and will take a whole supply chain look at food safety and integrity.
