Chocolate manufacturer Barry Callebaut will pump nearly $6M into its latest acquisition to strengthen its US business.

Barry Callebaut will acquire the industrial assets and lease space from the World’s Finest Chocolate company in Chicago this month (March).

The new site will allow the firm to boost its business in the country where it currently operates 11 factories, it said.

Output from the new factory will exceed 25,000t a year, said Dave Johnson, chief executive and president of Barry Callebaut's US business.

Barry Callebaut will also supply liquid chocolate to the World’s Finest Chocolate’s other Chicago-based manufacturing facility, as part of a long-term agreement.

“This long-term agreement is another important step to strengthen our services for customers,” said Johnson.
