Empty cans
Thousands of empty cans, which are manufactured by the can producer Rexam, are delivered to the site for filling each week.
Before they are filled, the cans are inspected for imperfections by a computer and then blasted with ionised air to ensure they are clean, Stacey said.
“We use ionised air instead of a wet disinfectant because there is less chance of bacterial growth and we’re eliminating water waste from this part of the process too,” he added.
