Former boss labels Phillips’s strategy ‘bullshit’
Arguably the largest piece of criticism thrown in Philips’ direction came at Morrisons’ annual general (agm) meeting from the retailer’s former boss.
After listening to Philips’ presentation at the agm on June 6, former chairman Sir Ken Morrison told him: “When I left work and started working as a hobby, I chose to raise cattle.
“I have something like 1,000 bullocks and, having listened to your presentation, Dalton, you’ve got a lot more bullshit than me.”
The 82-year-old’s comments stirred-up a very public debate over Philips’ strategy for the turnaround of the business that he never recovered from.
A spokesman for the supermarket told FoodManufacture.co.uk at the time the management was adopting the right strategy to reverse the shortfalls in sales and profitability.
