Cadbury Dairy Milk is UK’s biggest chocolate brand
News that Cadbury Dairy Milk was the nation’s favourite chocolate bar by value sales was the most read story on FoodManufacture.co.uk.
The popular purple-coated chocolate, which is owned by Mondelez International, chalked up sales of £491M in the year to August 16, 2014, according to market analyst Information Resources (IRI).
Cadbury Dairy Milk’s 3.5% increase in sales on the previous year placed it comfortably ahead of second place Galaxy with £214M of value sales.
On the top five list were: Maltesers (£119M), Kit Kat (£106M) and Kinder (99M), which secured 30% annual growth.
The top 10 list was completed by Mars, Snickers, Twirl, Wispa and M&Ms.
IRI’s figures revealed growth in total value sales of chocolate confectionery remained flat at £2.5bn.
Chocolate remained the largest sector in the confectionary sector.
