Irene Rosenfeld, chairman and ceo of Mondelēz International
Just missing out on the top spot was the boss of global snack company Mondelēz International Irene Rosenfeld.
The owner of Cadbury, Kenco, Oreo and Ritz boosted sales and profits by 1% and 28%, respectively, in 2013.
Earlier this year, the firm lost a 10-year battle with Nestlé to trademark the colour purple for its Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate bar.
In an exclusive interview with Foodmanufacture.co.uk, Mondelēz’s head of chocolate Bharat Puri said heat resistant chocolate, new product development and increased penetration in under-represented parts of the world offered “considerable potential” to the firm.
Rosenfeld is facing weak consumer spending and pressure from shareholder Nelson Peltz and plans to cut $1.5bn (£900,000) in costs over the next four years, according to Fortune.
