Arla Foods
A turnover of £7.5bn makes Arla Foods the seventh largest dairy firm in the world.
Arla is responsible for some of the UK’s leading dairy brands, including Cravendale, Anchor, Lurpak and Tickler.
It also supplies a full range of fresh dairy products to the major retailers and foodservice customers.
Formed in 1881, Arla Foods is owned by 13,500 dairy farmers – 3,000 of whom are British.
Earlier this year, Arla announced plans to merge with Belgian rival EGM Walhorn. The deal will add Walhorn’s turnover of £195.5M to Arla’s portfolio.
Chairman of Arla Foods Åke Hantoft said: “We are confident that EGM Walhorn is the right business with which to deliver our plans.
“EGM Walhorn would provide us with an opportunity to grow our milk pool across Europe and the merger would be an important step towards achieving our strategic ambitions, which are focused on growth.”
