Dairy Farmers of America
The Dairy Farmers of America’s annual turnover of £8.87bn makes it the sixth biggest dairy producer in the world.
The co-operative has almost 15,000 members and owns 33 production sites throughout the US.
Through its Global Dairy Products Group commercial division, it manufactures cheese and butter, as well as dairy ingredients, and contract manufactures for consumer products.
In addition to its own plants, its members’ milk is delivered to various customers and joint venture partners like Hiland Dairy and Dean Foods.
Dairy Farmers of America was formed in 1998, when leaders from four of the nation’s leading milk cooperatives – Associated Milk Producers, Mid-America Dairymen, Milk Marketing, and Western Dairymen Cooperative – merged one entity.
