Nestlé
Swiss food giant Nestlé is the biggest dairy business in the world with annual sales of almost £17bn.
The firm’s dairy brands include its Carnation range of evaporated milk, condensed milk, cream and caramel.
It is also famous for its dairy chocolate products such as Kit Kat, Milkybar, Aero, Yorkie, Caramac and Walnut Whip.
Last month, the firm struck a deal with First Milk to supply fresh milk for its Kit Kat and Nescafé brands in the UK.
In 2010, a dedicated group of First Milk farmers was set up to supply Nestlé’s site at Girvan in Ayrshire. The partnership was boosted with a farmer supply group set up to support Nestlé’s Dalston site in Cumbria last month.
Nestlé’s UK and Ireland sales of Yorkie grew by 31.6% in 2013. Sales have grown by more than 50% over the past two years, thanks to TV advertising and the launch of Yorkie ‘Man Sized Buttons’.
Nestlé UK and Ireland is also on target to become the first top 10 confectionery manufacturer to secure 100% of the cocoa it uses in its products from sustainable sources by the end of 2015.
