Food ingredients manufacturer Macphie of Glenbervie has appointed Shan Richards as its commercial director, replacing Andrew Underwood who was promoted to md in April.

Richards joins from French dessert firm Senoble, where she had been sales and marketing director for the past three years.

Before this she held a number of roles at Dairy Crest over a five year period. She has also worked for SC Johnson and Unilever.

Richards said she was delighted to be joining a “highly successful ingredients business” with a “great reputation” throughout the food industry for quality, innovative products and excellent customer service.

‘Growth strategy’

“The company has made a strong start to the year in what have been challenging conditions in today’s competitive global food market, and it’s an exciting time to be joining the business as it embarks on an ambitious three-year growth strategy,” she added.

Macphie, which is based in Scotland, would aim to build close links with strategic partners and invest in its business to keep at the forefront of new ingredient and processing technologies, she claimed.

“I am looking forward to delivering the benefits of these initiatives to our growing international customer base,” Richards added.
