Sainsbury overhaul ahead of King’s departure
Sainsbury made a number of changes across its business in preparation for ceo Justin King’s departure from the firm on July 9 2014.
The retailer appointed Paul Mills-Hicks as its new food commercial director on May 11 2014.
Mills-Hicks, who is currently business unit director for grocery, will oversee food, supply chain, own-brand and space and formats at the retailer.
Roger Burnley, Helen Buck, Robbie Feather and James Brown were all appointed internally to new roles within the business.
Sainsbury’s Bank ceo Peter Griffiths also joined the operating board, following Sainsbury’s acquisition of the remaining 50% shareholding in the Bank from Lloyds Banking Group earlier this year.
King said: “A key part of our success over the last 10 years has been the strength of our leadership team at all levels of our business, and our focus on developing talent from within, ensuring we have a great blend of innovative thinking and experience.”
