Roasting firm invests to meet demand

Increasing demand for its product led The Roasting Company to invest in a new gas-fired continuous air-roasting oven to boost capacity and extend its production footprint in an investment in excess of £500k.

The company sells bulk ready-to-eat snacks to retail packers and ingredients to food manufacturers. With its uniform roasting capabilities, consistent airflow and inline cooling, the Bühler AeroRoast has helped to boost the peanut and treenut processor’s air-roasting capacity to up to 9t an hour.

“During the six years that our business has been established we have grown our tonnage every year and now process more than 14,000t of nuts per year,​” says Roger Messenger, md, The Roasting Company.

“This achievement has been down to five major factors: low cost base and efficiency ethos, giving us a competitive advantage; high quality standards; service focused with flexible attitude; a continuous improvement approach; and high capacity.”

The premises were extended to house the new equipment, ensuring no disruption to service during the installation. The extension has given further floor space to invest in the future.
