Nestlé’s sports nutrition brands sold to US firm Post Holdings
US cereal manufacturer Post Holdings acquired Nestlé’s sports nutrition brands PowerBar and Musashi.
Post Holdings was rumoured to be lining up a bid for the brands in September, according to Reuters.
The Missouri-based firm said it would combine PowerBar and Musashi with its existing active nutrition portfolio to form a group that could claim $550M (£306M) in annual sales.
The PowerBar business – designed to aid athletic performance and recovery – operates mainly in western Europe, including the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
Terms of the sale have not been disclosed.
