FSA extend Bennett’s role as chair
The FSA’s search for a permanent successor to Jeff Rooker continued this month, when it extended the appointment of Tim Bennett as its chair until December 2014.
The search for someone to take over from Bennett will be led by the Department of Health in liaison with relevant colleagues in the devolved administrations.
The FSA added that it would make a permanent appointment before December 2014 if one presented itself.
Bennett, who is also chairman of DairyCo, was appointed on an interim basis following the departure of Jeff Rooker from the FSA at the end of his four-year contract in July 2013.
FSA ceo Catherine Brown said: “We are delighted to have the benefit of Tim’s leadership for the next year. This appointment ensures that we will continue to have the benefit of strong board leadership in protecting food safety and consumer interests in relation to food.”
