Dalton Philips, Morrisons’ chief executive, acknowledged the retailer’s delayed online offer but pledged to make up for lost time. “We are late to the party but I am confident we can make quite an entrance,” he said.
Partnership with Ocado
The supermarket will draw on its £200M partnership with Ocado to make the first deliveries of online-ordered goods in Warwickshire on January 10.
Supermarket leader Tesco and Sainsbury and Asda have been growing their online grocery offerings since the late ‘90s.
In addition to plugging the gap in online sales, Morrisons is planning to step up its sales through convenience outlets. It plans to open 100 M local convenience stores by the end of the year and 200 by the end of next year.
