Aunt Bessie
Aunt Bessie is also nothing more than a fictional character created by marketing executives to promote Aunt Bessie’s Yorkshire Puddings range.
The first ever Aunt Bessie’s Yorkshire Puddings were supplied to Butlin’s Holiday Camps in their millions, in 1974.
Since then, although the recipe has remained largely the same, Aunt Bessie herself has undergone a radical makeover.
In 2012, out went the glasses, the wrinkles and the grey hair in a bid to make her appeal to a younger generation of consumers.
The brand is now part of the William Jackson Food Group and manufactures more than 20M Yorkshire puddings a week, as well as producing roast parsnips, roast potatoes, toad in the hole, bramley apple pie and gravy ranges.
