The celebrity Wimbledon Wiggle video – featuring tennis star Maria Sharapova and celebrities such as Jonathan Ross – from mineral water firm Evian is proving a social media hit with more than 45,000 views on YouTube.

The video features a host of stars mimicking the sideways bottom shuffle beloved by tennis players before they receive a serve. The 99-second video packs in celebrities – such as Ben Wishaw, Michelle Dockery, Mollie King, Gemma Chan, Holly Willoughby and Nick Grimshaw – together with tennis fans who all emulate the saucy bottom manoeuvre.

Created by electro-hip hop artist Tigermonkey, the Wimbledon Wiggle song was performed live today at the tennis championships.

Evian is inviting fans to post their own versions of the Wimbledon Wiggle on its Facebook site.

Sarah Dossett, Evian marketing manager said: “We wanted to get members of the public uploading their wiggles to get in the mood for The Championships and we have been overwhelmed by the response.

“People have been really creative – we’ve seen wiggles in the woods, on the beach, on top of post boxes and live from the championships, by people dressed in some crazy costumes including dinosaurs and parrots!”

Meanwhile, Sharapova’s surprise Wimbledon defeat last week has allowed more time to focus on her recently launched UK confectionery business.
