New boss for US sauce firm Tabasco
Tabasco sauce manufacturer the McIlhenny Company has appointed Tony Simmons as its chief executive officer.
Simmons – who was elected by the firm’s board of directors – will also serve as interim chairman until an independent chairman is appointed.
Currently serving as president of the Avery Island based sauce manufacturer in southern Louisiana, Simmons is the great-great grandson of New Orleans banker Edmund McIlhenny, who created the iconic sauce after the American Civil War.
American Civil War
Simmons succeeded Paul McIlhenny who died in February 2013.
Before joining the family business, Simmons was president and ceo of independent crane distributor Manitowoc Southeastern.
When not managing McIlhenny Company, Simmons enjoys fishing for blue marlin in the Gulf of Mexico, close to the firm’s Avery Island head quarters.
Watch out for our Big Interiew with Simmons in a forthcoming edition of FoodManufacture.co.uk’s sister publication Food Manufacture.
