Nestlé ceo Paul Bulcke has been elected as co-chair of the Consumer Goods Forum (CGF).

Bulcke will share the role the ceo of Dutch international retailing group Royal Ahold Dick Boer.

The pair take over from co-chairs Muhtar Kent of The Coca-Cola Company and Gareth Ackerman of Pick n Pay. Kent had held the role for the past three years, with Ackerman joining him 12 months ago.

The CGF is a global industry network that brings together leaders and senior management from more than 400 retailers, manufacturers, service providers and other stakeholders across 70 countries.

It provides a global platform for organisations to exchange knowledge and best practice around five strategic priorities central to the advancement of the consumer goods industry: emerging trends, sustainability, health and safety, operational excellence, and knowledge sharing and people development.

‘Define priorities’

“There are many challenges in society today and we have to define priorities to work together in collaboration with multiple stakeholders in order to bring sustainable solutions,” said Mr Bulcke. “I am looking forward to serving The Consumer Goods Forum, which is growing in importance, and supporting its vision of ‘better lives through better business.”

Boer said he was “looking forward” to encouraging collaboration across all levels of CGF membership.
