Diageo boss to step down after 13 years
Paul Walsh has announced his decision to stand down as chief executive of Johnnie Walker maker Diageo after 13 years as its boss.
Walsh will stay with the drinks supplier until June to aid the transition process. He will be replaced by current chief operating officer, Ivan Mendez on July 1.
Dr Franz Humer, Diageo chairman, described Walsh as “an outstanding chief executive”. Humer praised Walsh’s “enormous imagination and dedication” over the past 13 years.
Investec analyst Martin Deboo said delivering on Diageo’s organic growth agenda should top Menezes’ to-do list.
