Premier Foods boss Michael Clarke in shock exit
Food industry watchers were shocked by the surprise departure of Michael Clarke, who quit his role as ceo of Britain’s biggest food manufacturer, Premier Foods.
Clarke chose to step down as boss of the debt-laden company with immediate effect on January 28, after only 18 months in charge.
He was replaced by Gavin Darby.
Shore Capital analysts Clive Black and Darren Shirley said they were both "surprised and disappointed" to learn of Clarke’s resignation.
Meanwhile, Geoff Eaton, Premier's chief operating officer, left the firm on the day Darby started work.
