Paterson becomes new DEFRA boss
Owen Paterson has been appointed secretary of state at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in Prime Minister David Cameron’s first cabinet reshuffle.
The Conservative MP for North Shropshire campaigned vigorously on farming issues, notably on bovine TB, during his stint as shadow agriculture, fisheries and food minister between 2003-05.
Paterson was previously secretary of state for Northern Ireland.
