Just squeezing onto our list of the seven most read articles in September was the report about an accident at Walkers Snack Foods.
The firm was ordered to pay £30,000 after a 400kg block of compacted Quavers waste smashed into a worker, breaking his leg.
An investigation by the Health and Safety Executive revealed that the work had not been properly planned, supervised or carried out safely.
A spokesman for Walkers’ owner PepsiCo said: “Walkers Snack Foods is committed to ensuring the health and safety of all our employees, customers and visitors. Immediate action was taken after the incident to ensure this does not happen on one of our sites again.”
