In fifth place was food magnate Ranjit Boparan's pledge to return Brookes Avana to profitability by 2014. The article, 2 Sisters to restore Brookes Avana within two years, reported Boparan's claim that its “strong customer relationships”, and an increased focus on costs would return the Brookes business to profitability within two years.
Boparan acquired the business from rival food giant Premier Foods in a £30M deal on December 8 last year.
At the time, analysts described the sale as “a win-win deal”.
