Hygiene Audit Systems has launched an online food safety monitoring system that enables users to store and view records across the globe, 24 hours a day.

Dr Lisa Ackerley, md of Hygiene Audit Systems, said: "Most firms' food safety systems are largely paper-based, time-consuming, complex and costly.

"By getting accurate information quickly to managers, Hawk improves information flow, saves money on paper diaries, saves time on laborious form-filling and considerably improves control, efficiency and safety."

Hawk devices collect essential food safety data, enabling managers to view and control standards via the internet. They can drill down to a faulty fridge, dirty kitchen or missed critical checks.

Alison Smith, head of food service at John Lewis Partnership, said: "This is a vital tool in our food safety management system that enables us to monitor and identify any issues across our branches at an early stage, so that we can take any necessary action efficiently."
