With 6,596 suppliers exhibiting products from 100 countries at this year's show in Cologne, Anuga is the world's largest food and drink trade fair.
The show's organiser, Koelnmesse, identified nine overarching trends this year: vegetarian foods, health and functional foods, organic products, gourmet products, regional specialities, halal foods, kosher products, own-labels, premium ingredients and finger foods were all increasing in popularity.
Koelnmesse held a 'Taste 11' innovation competition to award outstanding new product development, which is judged by an independent panel of industry experts. At the 2011 show held at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, from October 8 to 12 more than 1,200 products were entered for the Taste 11 show and, from these, 54 examples of top innovations were selected.
