Findus Group launches Young’s Seafood Limited

The new company – Young’s Seafood Limited – which will have a £600m turnover, has appointed Leendert den Hollander (current md for Findus Group UK and Ireland) as chief executive, while Pete Warn (now md of The Seafood Company) is the new entity’s chief operating officer.
As a large-scale fish and seafood player, Young’s Seafood Limited will continue to supply chilled and frozen, own-label and branded products to the UK market, said den Hollander: “We will further accelerate growth by drawing on our scale, heritage and leadership in fish and seafood, in close partnership with our retailer customers," he added.
A Findus UK spokeswoman told FoodManufacture.co.uk that she didn’t expect the changes to affect the firm’s 13 manufacturing sites, with Findus currently consulting over the loss of 84 jobs at its Grimsby facility, despite investing £1.5m in the site over the last 18 months.
Young’s Seafood Limited will employ 3,200 people, with Grimsby retained as its manufacturing and NPD (new product development) centre, and corporate headquarters based in London.
