Prices in the new Heston Blumenthal range will "start from about £3 but are still pending confirmation", Waitrose bosses have revealed.

The 20-strong new 'Heston from Waitrose' range, which is based on recipes developed by chef Heston Blumenthal, will be launched in October and will be followed by a further 30 products in April 2011.

The products will be sourced from "existing Waitrose suppliers who are known and trusted", a spokeswoman told FoodManufacture.co.uk.

"In addition we are looking to take on two new suppliers, which are in the process of being audited by our food technologists. We will look at new suppliers for future products if needed."

Products launching in the first phase include vanilla mayonnaise, tea-smoked salmon and ponzu dressing: a citrus-based Japanese dressing made with rice vinegar, mirin and seaweed, finished with the Asian citrus fruits yuzu and sudachi.
