Dry steam shifts the sticky stuff

- Last updated on GMT

One of the problems with being a major confectionery manufacturer is cleaning up after batch production, particularly getting rid of machine-clogging glucose and sugar.

Sticky residues on production machinery are hard to shift. But now New McCowans (Scotland), which incorporates John Millar and Sons of Edinburgh, and McCowan's of Stenhousemuir, has found the answer. It is the OspreyDeepclean Vega Plus dry steam cleaning machine from Cleaning Systems UK.

Thanks to the Vega Plus, New McCowan's has found that dry steam-cleaning is much quicker, easier, and far more effective than manual methods, with machines being brought back into production very much more quickly.

Hot, dry steam is applied under eight bar pressure to quickly dissolve sticky residues, which, if not fully vaporised by the steam, are vacuumed into a waste tank for later disposal.
