A sensor system has been introduced, which gives robot end effectors and other grippers a 'sense of touch', allowing intricate or delicate handling operations not otherwise possible.

ATI Industrial Automation's Net F/T network force/torque sensor system is available from TIA Robotic Tooling Solutions.

ATI is one of the largest suppliers of six-axis force/torque sensors in the world.

Sensor feedback allows the robot to maintain a constant contact force on workpieces even if they have irregular or unknown contours.

The new Net F/T sensor system is said to allow easy integration of robots into industrial networks. It features both ethernet/IP and controller-area network communications interfaces, with standard ethernet compatibility.

Sensor models include IP67-rated sensors for hygienic and wet applications.
