This autumn's school lunch boxes could be laden with more fruity treats as the Glisten group has launched a new fruit snacking concept called Sun-Maid Fruit Fingers, in agreement with California-based Sun-Maid.
The fingers have no artificial colours or flavours and each bar contains one portion of fruit, fibre, omega-3 and omega-6.
Available in two varieties - dipped in chocolate and dipped in yoghurt - the snacks are manufactured at Halo Foods (a division of Glisten) using a new method which creates a pressed fruit bar.
Glisten group marketing director Dave Coulson commented: "Fruit Fingers is a completely new and unique kind of fruit bar for kids and we believe it will add incremental value to the fruit snacking category. Our research found the concept has high appeal with both parents and children by combining a tasty and fun product with great 'healthier' credentials."
The snack bars will be available in Boots and Spar from August and will be launched in 677 Tesco stores in time for the Back to School campaign period.
