Trials at a cooked-meat processing plant in the West Midlands have shown how BioCote's silver technology can reduce levels of bacteria by up to 96.4% on surfaces.

BioCote works with manufacturers to incorporate a silver-based additive into their products to give them built-in protection against harmful microbes. BioCote's silver technology has the ability to reduce bacteria such as E. coli, salmonella, campylobacter and listeria on surfaces 24 hours a day, working in-between cleans to keep levels to a minimum.

The trial at KJ Foods compared products which contained BioCote protection with standard, untreated equipment. The results showed that there was an 80.6% reduction in bacteria on BioCote protected soap dispensers, compared to non-protected products. There was also a 95.4% reduction in bacteria levels on the surface of doors protected with BioCote, compared to non-treated doors.

BioCote can be integrated into a wide range of materials, including plastics, textiles and even paper. The company forms partnerships with manufacturers which then use the patented technology to give their products a key advantage.
