Brakes is extending its range of culinary nuts and dried fruit to include seeds with the launch of Sunflower Seeds and Toasted Mixed Seeds.

Brakes Sunflower Seeds are packed full of flavour and minerals, including potassium, phosphorous, iron and calcium, and protein. Ideal for use in baking, they can be added to bread, muffins and cookies as an ingredient or as a topping.

They also make a healthy addition to doughs and mixes. Pumpkin seeds, in particular, are a good source of omega 3 and 6 fats.

Eileen Steinbock, head of health and nutrition at Brakes, said: "Seeds have come from nowhere to become one of our favourite snack items as they have great nutritional value. Adding them to baked goods such as breads and rolls is a great way to help consumers include them in their diets."

Brakes Sunflower Seeds and Toasted Mix Seeds are available in 1kg bags and complement its comprehensive range of nuts and dried fruit, which includes whole hazelnuts, ground almonds and walnut halves to pitted dates, apricots and banana pieces.
