Angular objects are easy to stack, so freezing and processing equipment manufacturer Jackstone Froster has developed a machine that freezes food into more manageable square blocks.
The equipment -- called the Traymaster -- is the first double contact automatic plate freezer of its kind. It has plates positioned both above and below the product, putting pressure on the food and moulding it into blocks .
The Traymaster can operate to temperatures as low as -38°C and is suitable for freezing a variety of products, including meat, vegetables, ice cream, packaged fish and pre- cooked meals in cartons, bags or trays.
The unit is electrically driven and uses a touchscreen panel. The Traymaster is relatively quiet in operation, as the use of hydraulic or pneumatic air has been avoided. Cutting back on sensors and motors also reduces malfunction risks and keeps costs low.
The first new generation machine has been supplied and is ready to be commissioned in the summer.
