Heinz is hot on the heels of Unilever's recently launched Carb Options product offering with the launch of its own lower carb range of food. Both ranges have been developed to make following a low-carb diet as easy as possible.
Heinz's new Carb Check is an 18-strong range of products from across the whole Heinz portfolio, with foods suitable for breakfast through to dinner. Products in the range are as diverse as tomato ketchup, bolognese pasta sauce, strawberry fruit spread, vanilla cereal, spaghetti, rice, cereal bars and biscuits.
All products under the Carb Check banner state their content of net carbs -- calculated by taking total carbohydrate grammes and subtracting fibre and sugar alcohol grammes -- on the front of each pack to help consumers monitor closely their carbohydrate intake. An average daily diet contains about 240g of net carbs, while lower carb diets tend to have between 60-75g, says Heinz.
