Diet brand Weight Watchers has finally admitted defeat in the face of the Atkins diet by lending its logo to a new range of low-carb ready meals from Heinz -- going against its original stance that only a balanced diet leads to weight loss.

The meals, which are manufactured under the Weight Watchers from Heinz (WWfH) brand, target those consumers who are not strict Atkins followers but want to cut down on their carbohydrate intake. Available in a frozen format, they contain 33% fewer carbohydrates than standard WWfH ready meals, says Heinz.

Four meals have been developed, each of which contains bigger portions of meat and vegetables but fewer carbohydrates. They are: Tuscan Chicken with Sweetcorn and Green Beans; Chicken in a Garlic and Lemon Sauce with Baby Carrots and Broccoli; Chicken in a Red Wine Sauce with Green Beans and Baby Carrots; and Chicken in Mushroom and Herb Sauce with Baby Carrots and Broccoli.
