Time for standards in specifications
Sir
On return to the sharp end of food technical management after a break of several years I have been struck by how little progress has been made towards a common electronic format for products/ingredients/packaging specifications and supplier questionnaires.
A substantial amount of expensive expert time is wasted on regurgitating the same or similar information in a myriad of formats for different customers, all wanting it yesterday.
Is it beyond the wit of the supermarkets, to which we are all ultimately beholden these days, to assist the supply chain to cost-effectively achieve the due diligence demanded of it by sorting this out?
