The popularity of the TV cartoon The Simpsons has led food company Fun Foods 4 All to launch a new range of organic dried pasta in the shape of the programme's dysfunctional family members.

The company is using the cartoon -- a new series of which is coming soon to terrestrial TV -- as a heavyweight start to its new range of low salt, low sugar and low fat children's meals.

Dry pasta was targeted for the debut launch because of children's familiarity with tinned pasta shapes from when they were very young, says director Mike Barrett. Market research confirmed that children would cross over to dry pasta if the product followed similar lines, he says.
