Firm applies to demolish
Noble Foods has submitted a planning application to demolish a factory that is being used as a poultry processing plant.
Submitted to Newark and Sherwood District Council last month, the application proposes to pull down an operational factory and replace it with a residential development of 77 houses, with site roads and a lake.
The factory is located at Bilsthorpe, Newark, and employs around 100 people. "Our employees are aware of our plans," said Andrew Joret technical director of Noble Foods. "If the application is granted we plan on relocating the factory and employees to another site in the nearby vicinity. But we are still in the very early stages - and it is still just a planning application."
The target for a decision on the application is August 20, 2009.
