Inefficiency frozen out at Findus
The installation of the Maxsys Fuel System at the Newcastle-upon-Tyne plant of Findus has reduced the gas consumption of its three boilers by 6.6%. This saving will allow the company to recoup the outlay on its investment within just 12 months.
The Newcastle plant employs 400 people and frozen food manufacture is its core business. To provide steam generation for both processes and heating, the factory uses three Danks MOD125 Metric boilers all running with Saacke CG40-4960 burners and fuelled by natural gas. Annual consumption was 2.4Mm³.
The Maxsys Fuel System is a patented fuel treatment technology that improves combustion by applying a finely calibrated magnetic field directly to the fuel. There are no moving parts and the units are maintenance-free.
Trials and calculations conducted before and after the installation of the Fuel System indicated that Findus was now saving 6.6% on its gas consumption.
The reduction in carbon dioxide output was also welcome. The site is constantly seeking ways to reduce its environmental impact as part of its Climate Change Levy agreement.
