Heated oil storage cuts waste

An innovative and environment-friendly storage solution to storing solid edible oils has been launched by The Kerfoot Group. The company has harnessed technology used in the chemical industry to produce specialist bulk storage containers with an in-built heating mechanism.

The containers are an adapted version of the vessels that the company uses to transport oils to its clients and are designed especially for oils that solidify at cooler temperatures, such as olive, palm, avocado and coconut oil.

By activating the thermostat on the containers when they arrive on site, clients can heat the oil so that it reverts to a liquid state before simply attaching a hose to the valve on the container and allowing the liquid to be poured out, as required.

In the past, the alternative has been for firms who buy in hard oils to cut away the packaging and transport the raw material in its bulky form to wherever it is needed on site.
