Sandwich packer will handle wedges, wraps and rolls
Dutch catering group Catering Houtop has become the first mainland European company to install Proseal's SP30 fully-automated sandwich packing system for the de-nesting, erecting and sealing of cardboard sandwich skillets.
The company says that the improved presentation of the cardboard packs has enabled it to better reflect the premium quality image of its range of hand-made sandwiches. At the same time, automating the packing process has brought immediate benefits in terms of higher throughput and reduced labour costs.
The SP30 is able to handle a wide variety of sandwich pack designs with just a five minute change-over that can easily be carried out by line operators. This flexibility is ideal for Catering Houtop's product range which, in addition to 12 sandwiches varieties in the traditional triangular shape, also includes wraps and rolls and specialist breads, as well as made-to-order sandwiches.
Catering Houtop is achieving 15-20 packs a minute, although the SP30 has a top speed of 30 packs a minute.
