Arla closes dairy
Arla Foods is to close its dairy and distribution facility at Wythenshawe in Manchester with the loss of around 300 jobs.
Raw milk processed at the site will be transferred to the company's plants at Ashby de la Zouche in Leicestershire, Hatfield Peveral in Essex and Stourton in Leeds.
In a separate move, the company has announced it will pay an additional 0.5ppl for milk supplied by members of its dedicated supply group Arla Foods Milk Partnership from June 1 2008.
